Kilometros de Arte - Goodyear Calendar 2014

In 2014, I had the privilege of participating in the inspiring project 'Kilómetros de Arte', an initiative that brought together six prominent Argentine artists, including myself, in a unique collaboration. Our artworks were selected to be part of the prestigious Goodyear calendar for that year, blending creativity with social commitment. Organized by Goodyear, this project transcended the artistic sphere by directing the funds raised from the auction of our works to the noble cause of building a Garrahan hospital in Chaco, Argentina. This experience not only allowed us to share our artistic expressions but also to contribute to a humanitarian cause of great importance to our community. I am deeply grateful to have been part of this initiative that showcased the power of art to positively impact society.

"Kilómetros de Arte" is a PLat Pensamiento Lateral project carried out for Goodyear, involving six artists traveling across the country and creating installations in various natural landscapes of Argentina. Federico Platener, as the project's curator, selected artists such as Alan Berry Rhys, Milo Lockett, Proyecto Fauna, John Mc Cam, Marcelo Arias, and Marcos López to execute their artistic interventions. These interventions were captured by photographer Diego Frangi and subsequently featured in Goodyear's 2014 calendar.

Alan Berry Rhys was tasked with intervening in the urban landscape, creating a mural at a tire shop in Munro, Buenos Aires Province. Milo Lockett's setting was the countryside, specifically in his native province of Chaco, where he painted a bus stop in a rural setting. The street art collective Proyecto Fauna executed an imposing installation in the energetic forest of Miramar, evoking a dreamlike world, replicating their street work but in a natural environment.

John Mc Cam, originally from Mar del Plata, aimed to create an installation on the beaches of his city, conceptualizing it with a series of totems inspired by Stonehenge. Marcelo Arias, a sculptor from Chubut, crafted a display of rheas made from recycled materials in the Valley of Los Altares, framed by the stunning backdrop of this unique location. Finally, Marcos López placed a three-meter-high Eneko in the midst of the Salar Gral. San Martín, in La Pampa province, which stood out amidst the vast, white landscape.

Six artists, six landscapes, different points across our country, coming together to materialize an artistic project based on the concept of land art.
